 Installation Project Manager

This position is the front line representative to the customer. The position will require a high level of discretion, tactfulness, and strong interpersonal skills. The ability to multitask and accurately keep track of several projects of varying size and scope is required.

REQUIREMENTS

• Extensive knowledge and experience with specifying and installing all types of office furniture (systems furniture, case goods, and ancillary products)
• Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to pass background investigation.

DUTIES

The Project Manager is responsible for all phases of a project including profitability, accountability and project ownership. This position will require contact with a diverse group of customers (furniture dealer sales managers and associates, dealer project managers, end users, building managers, construction companies, etc.). and internal contacts at all levels of the organization. In addition to extensive prior experience with contract office furniture installations, a general knowledge of building trades and site work is also beneficial.

Project Bidding

• Furniture layout drawing and specification review
• Product receiving and installation schedule timeline
• Site visits for pre-bid survey
• Installation site conditions and restrictions
• Security requirements
• Manpower and equipment requirements
• Put bid in an acceptable and explainable format
• Bid review with management
• Receive proper Purchase Orders from clients before job begins

General Administration

• Ensure local jurisdiction requirements are met to start the project. Coordinate with the general contractor in the case of new construction
• Conflict resolution with change orders, invoicing, scope of work (and additional charges), project coordination, drawings and specifications, personnel conflicts (sometimes this involves personality conflicts as well), etc…
• Perform project safety audits and project safety review
• Invoicing the customer
• Assistance with receivables collections (when needed)
• Grow and expand our customer base with new dealers

Project Cost Controls

• Project budget development and adherence
• Management of overtime, total hours, and crew size to complete project
• Eliminate conditions that lead to job damages
• Track project changes from our customers closely and recover these costs • Communicate with the customer on project status, progression, change orders, coordination conflicts with the end user’s vendors and subcontractors

Project Scheduling

• Project schedule development, adherence and update for all parties involved with the project.
• Project coordination with any subcontractors and vendors involved
• Project schedule distribution to all parties involved
• Stay on top of and anticipate any delays to the project that are out of our control

Project Progression

• Project contract, drawing, specification and quality control adherence
• Review crew chief’s paperwork to ensure that on-site project administration is being properly executed (daily signoff’s, time sheets, installation prints, etc…)
• Communication/daily updates with the project crew chief (as well as subcontractors and vendors)

Project Closeout

• Ensure any required project closeout documentation is received and forwarded to customer
• Ensure project punch lists are completed in a timely manner
• Invoice the client for all work in a timely manner

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in Office Furniture project management and installation
• Ability to read and interpret furniture layout drawings and specifications.
• Ability to evaluate and direct a project’s direction and progress.
• Knowledge, use and operation of standard office equipment and a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with poise, tact and diplomacy.
• Attention to detail, good verbal and written communication.
• Ability to plan work in progress using available resources including crew, equipment, materials and coordination of work with subcontractors
